At first level it is your hit dice maximum plus your Constitution modifier. Hit points: How much punishment you can take before you keel over. For everyone but Wizards and Sorcerers, we will revisit this when we go over equipment. Armor class is 10 plus your Dexterity Modifier. Armor Class (AC) Armor Class is how hard it is for someone to land a hit on you.Initiative is how you determine turn order in combat. At level 1, Initiative is just your Dexterity modifier. For example, Tieflings have darkvision, which means on top of normal vision they can see in the dark to a limited extent. 5.2 Vision: Certain races have special vision. At the bottom of the left hand column is senses and movement. Most of these are self explanatory but just to go over them They are found on the left side of the sheet. Now the main thing of the first page, stats, or what your character is good and bad at. Proficiency Bonus is how much better your character is good at those things. Proficiencies are what your character is good at. 2.2 Race: This is the species/creature that you plan on playing. All of these are located at the top right side of the sheet. Race, Class, Background, and Alignment.Names are important, and help make your character feel more real. This can be done at any point, but is a good thing to keep in mind as you are making a character. You didn’t think we were going to ignore apps entirely, did you? It excels at providing quick and simple characters. The Ninetale character builder is nowhere near as extensive as MPMB’s, but it is useful in other ways. You can adjust it as you like and when you’re done simply save it as a PDF. One of my favorite character builders, this puts together a DnD 5e character sheet that’s completely editable. It can be a little overwhelming, but a lot of options just mean a lot of power in your hands. Now, this is a character builder built by someone who clearly loves DnD. Javascript DDNext Character Generator.You don’t have to select any options if you don’t want to, just skip straight to the random generation. The Fast Character Builder is exactly what it says on the tin. This character builder has many of the strengths of DnD Beyond’s, and none of its weaknesses! It allows you to randomly generate characters as well as more carefully building your own. Admittedly, only the core rulebooks’ content is free, but if you have the money it’s worth the cost. DnD Beyond is a famous DnD 5e reference site, and with a free account you can access its excellent character builder. It breaks the character creation process into really simple steps that make all the choices that go into character creation a lot easier. This character builder is great for those new to DnD.
